I sent an email to W. P. Kinsella though I never really expected him to respond. It basically described the scope and vision of this project as well as thanking him for his wit and wisdom in Shoeless Joe. Kinsella replied in short time and form: "I'm very distrustful of anyone who claims to hear voices. It is the fiction writer’s job to create weird characters, but I wouldn't want to know any of them in real life." —W. P. Kinsella Kinsella had just called me a real-life weird character. And I was thrilled.
“Normal” people who are satisfied with maintaining the status-quo and chasing the unattainable American dream don’t stand a chance of really changing the world. World-changing is left to those who are weird enough to believe that the impossible really isn’t impossible, it just requires doing what no one else has previously done.
And that’s exactly what I plan on doing.
A portion of the proceeds will go to Coach Howard Bell’s Strike Out ALS
