My favorite Twitter account for the first two weeks of 2018 is Thoughts of Dog (@dog_feelings). In this account, the dog, who has incredible Twitter skills, calls those who take the time to play his “frens.” That cracks me up.
My fren Amy in KC said she has a fren in Springfield, Nate, who wanted to play catch. I sent Nate a message and asked if he was willing even though the wind chill is in the teens.
“I’m in.”
We coordinated a time to meet at the Fassnight Field. I was first greeted by Lucky who introduced me to his fren Nate.
Nate works at the Alzheimer’s Association raising money through organizing the annual walk in Jordan Valley Park.
“When you meet the people and hear their stories, you want to help.”
We talked about everything from City Butcher BBQ to Lucky’s adventures in a kayak.
Play catch. Make new frens. Help them wherever they are on this incredible journey of life — even if it’s a ridiculous resolution.
Many thanks to another new fren, Joi-Marie, who wrote this story about this catch playing adventure.
