I’ve known Andrew since last millennium. He was the towhead who followed me around at church and gave me high fives. I think he even invited me to his 10th birthday party.
I texted Andrew this morning to let him know I finished my writing early.
“Wrong number.”
“Sorry.”
“Anything I can do to help?”
“Wanna play catch?”
“No thank you. Good luck with that.”
Andrew is a Cardinals fan, the first one I’ve played catch with this year. We met on his lunch break at Glenwood Park for a quick 25 throws in a crisp 25 degrees.
Five years ago this month, Andrew was diagnosed leukemia. Good news, he’s been in remission for three years.
As for big dreams in 2018, Andrew is praying about being a foster care parent. He and his wife would make amazing foster parents.
Definitely want to play catch with Andrew again when it warms up.
Also, happy 21st anniversary to my wife!
